Summary[]

Seidou's practice match against Osaka Kiryu High School begins. Furuya pitches and gets obliterated. He turns to Miyuki for advice on how to avoid giving up runs.

Synopsis[]

Furuya’s on the mound first and Sawamura and Haruichi are left on the bench. Despite Kataoka’s words of “prepare to be obliterated,” Furuya intends to not let anyone get a hit. Furuya however, immediately loses 3 runs on the first inning. Kiryu's coach Matsumoto, knows Furuya is not at his best, but instructs his team to show no mercy. Another batter hits, but Ryosuke and Kuramochi's infield combo makes a double play.

Seidou's offense. Seidou's lead-off man, Kuramochi hits a little to third, and almost makes it to first with his speed.

Challenge02
Miyuki runs to Furuya

The second hitter, Ryousuke battles against Kiryu's pitcher with 10 fouls. The third hitter, Isashiki advances Ryosuke to second base. Seidou's clean-up, Yuuki is next at bat and hit straight to the left field fence. Seidou scores a run. In four innings, however, Furuya’s given up 11 runs. Not only that, but he’s also thrown over 100 pitches. Furuya asks for a time-out surprising his teammates. Miyuki quickly goes to him thinking that perhaps, Furuya has reached his limit.

Furuya, however, actually asks Miyuki for advise on how to not give up runs, surprising the catcher. Furuya admits that he's not pitching well, but doesn't want to leave the mound pitching poorly. Miyuki realizes that Furuya hasn't given up and is delighted. He advises Furuya to start pitching while having faith in his teammates. This surprises Furuya, who recalls his middle school days. His teammates refused to play with him, and he often end up practicing alone.

Furuya realizes that he's in a different place now.

Challenge03
Isashiki reminds Furuya that baseball is a team game.

Furuya pitches trusting Miyuki's mitt, and the batter hits a high fly to center. Isashiki throws a bullet to home field and the batter is out. Isashiki later scolds Furuya for forgetting to cover home, then tells the first year to stop playing baseball on his own.
